The 3rd CancerThera Congress will be held on March 12 and 13, 2026, at the Auditorium of the School of Medical Sciences of the University of Campinas (Unicamp), from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The meeting will promote discussions on the most recent advances in the development of radiopharmaceuticals, metallopharmaceuticals, and innovative diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for cancer patient care.
“This edition was designed to offer a plural and integrative space that stimulates the exchange of experiences, the establishment of professional connections, and high-level scientific updating, bringing together professionals, undergraduate and graduate students from different fields of knowledge involved in cancer theranostics,” highlights Dr. Carmino Antonio de Souza, principal investigator of the CEPID CancerThera and president of the congress, in his welcome letter.
The program will include keynote lectures, thematic round tables, scientific sessions with oral communications and poster presentations, as well as opportunities for dialogue among areas such as Nuclear Medicine, Oncology, Onco-Hematology, Chemistry, Radiochemistry, and Radiopharmacy, among related disciplines.
Under the theme “Challenges of Translational Research in Cancer Theranostics,” this edition will feature internationally renowned speakers, including Dr. Giuseppe Saglio (Italy), Professor of Internal Medicine and Hematology and Director of the Department of Clinical and Biological Sciences at the University of Turin, and Head of the Division of Internal Medicine and Hematology at San Luigi University Hospital; and Dr. António Manuel Rocha Paulo (Portugal), Principal Researcher at the Instituto Superior Técnico of the University of Lisbon, with extensive experience in Nuclear Sciences and Technologies and in Chemical and Radiopharmaceutical Sciences. Their contributions are expected to broaden scientific perspectives and strengthen international collaborations in theranostics research.
What’s new in this edition
On the day before the event, March 11, 2026, two free pre-congress courses will be offered exclusively to registered participants, with limited places filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Both courses will take place concurrently, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., with a break.
The first course, “Dose–Response Data Analysis for Preclinical Drug Discovery,” will train participants in the planning, execution, and quantitative analysis of cell viability assays using the MTT method, including dose–response curve modeling, IC50 estimation using robust statistical methods, and practical application in R. With 32 available places, it will be taught by Gilberto Carlos Franchi Júnior (Unicamp School of Medical Sciences) and Dr. Diego Samuel Rodrigues (Unicamp School of Technology).
The second course, “Mastering Radionuclides: Chemical Principles for Applications in Nuclear Medicine,” will provide an integrated view of radiochemistry applied to Nuclear Medicine, from radioisotope fundamentals to the production, detection, and development of radiopharmaceuticals, connecting basic research to diagnostic and therapeutic practice. It will be taught by Dr. Fabio Luiz Navarro Marques (USP School of Medicine) and Dr. Victor Marcelo Deflon (Institute of Chemistry of São Carlos, USP), with 50 available places.
Registration open
Registration is open with a single fee of R$ 50.00, valid for attendees. The author interested in submitting a scientific abstract, if responsible for the presentation, will be exempt from the registration fee. Please note that abstract submission is only allowed for participants who have previously registered for the congress. Selected works will be included in the program as poster or oral presentations, reinforcing the formative, collaborative, and interdisciplinary nature of the event.
The congress is organized by the Center for Innovation in Cancer Theranostics (CancerThera) in partnership with the Hemocenter and the School of Medical Sciences of Unicamp, with support from FAPESP as a Center for Research, Innovation and Dissemination (CEPID), reaffirming its commitment to strengthening national science and integrating it with the international community.
