Belo Horizonte (MG) welcomed more than 700 participants, including attendees, exhibitors, and support staff, to the 39th Brazilian Congress of Nuclear Medicine (CBMN), organized by the Brazilian Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SBMN). The event took place on August 22, 23, and 24, featuring an extensive program of lectures, round tables, clinical debates, and a commercial exhibition.
There were 21 hours of scientific activities distributed across five simultaneous auditoriums. The thematic diversity marked this edition: 42 presentations on PET/CT and PET/MR, 32 dedicated to Conventional Nuclear Medicine and SPECT/CT, in addition to discussions in Radiopharmacy, Radionuclide Therapy, Applied Physics, Preclinical Research, and related fields.
“We experienced intense days of learning and connection. It was exciting to see the Nuclear Medicine community come together around such a major event,” said Dr. Elba Etchebehere, nuclear medicine physician, president of SBMN, professor at the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the University of Campinas (FCM/Unicamp), and principal investigator at CEPID CancerThera.
In addition to Etchebehere, several other principal and associated researchers from CancerThera were present at the event, representing the fields of Nuclear Medicine, Radiopharmacy, and Medical Physics. Among them, the following members of the program served as speakers: Dr. Celso Dario Ramos, nuclear medicine physician, professor at FCM/Unicamp, and principal investigator; Dr. Allan de Oliveira Santos, nuclear medicine physician at the Clinical Hospital (HC) of Unicamp and associated researcher; Dr. Bárbara Juarez Amorim, nuclear medicine physician at HC/Unicamp and associated researcher; Dr. Edna Marina de Souza, medical physicist at the Center for Biomedical Engineering at Unicamp and associated researcher.
The president of the 39th CBMN, Dr. Denise Rodrigues (Grupo Orizonti), highlighted the engagement of the audience and the efforts of the organizing team: “Belo Horizonte hosted a vibrant congress, with high-quality discussions and strong participation. It was an honor to lead this meeting and witness the energy of colleagues in pursuit of knowledge and innovation.”
Also leading the organization were the scientific director of SBMN, Dr. Camila Mosci (Unicamp), and the vice president of the society, Dr. Paulo Almeida (UFPE).
