On Saturday, August 22, 2026, CancerThera participated in the 21st edition of the Unicamp Open Doors Program (UPA), which this year had as its theme “Connection Time” and integrated the celebrations of the 60 years of Unicamp. The event, with free admission, invited students, future entrants and the community to get to know the university, its teaching, research, extension and innovation activities.

Throughout the event, CancerThera mobilized more than 30 volunteers, between undergraduate and graduate students and professors, who worked in the reception of visitors and in the conduct of activities.
Programming
About 500 visitors participated in the activities promoted by CancerThera. The program included games and educational activities on radiation and cancer, in addition to a practical experience with a Geiger counter, which allowed participants to learn about an instrument used to detect and measure radiation and relate the concept to everyday situations.
One of the highlights of the program was the four thematic arenas — Cancerthera, basic research, preclinical research and clinical research. In these spaces, the visitors were able to learn about different stages of the scientific and technological development process, from the investigation of the mechanisms related to cancer to the stages of basic, pre-clinical and clinical research. The proposal was to show, in a didactic way, how different areas of knowledge connect to transform scientific discoveries into new strategies for diagnosis, treatment and care.

Diffusion
CancerThera’s participation in the 2026 UPA reinforces the project’s commitment to scientific dissemination, the formation of new talents and the democratization of knowledge in science and health. By providing practical and interactive experiences, CancerThera contributed to arousing the interest of children, young people, students and other visitors through scientific research and the different possibilities of acting in the area of health, science and innovation in cancer.
